Vegan Unicorn Hot Chocolate | DIY

I am obsessed with hot chocolate. I am (newly) obsessed with anything pink & pastel, I am obsessed with unicorns and I am vegan. Throw that together and what have you got?  An obvious reason to give making Vegan Unicorn Hot Chocolate a go.

'Unicorn' food has been taking over the internet recently and I decided I wanted to give it a go as well. I also want to show how easy it is for vegans to find/make alternatives and to dispel any myths that vegans can only eat salad and boring vegetables... Nah give me the fun stuff too!

I'm super happy to announce that this does not have to be an expensive DIY, it requires hardly any ingredients, pretty much all of which are accessible in supermarkets. I got the squirty cream at a local health food shop, but I'm sure it's easy to find online if you don't have one of those near you. I also got my white chocolate at a vegan food festival I went to, but I know Sainsburys offers it's own brand of free from bars of white chocolate. What can I say except you're welcome! (I am Moana obsessed, sorry.)

What You Will Need:

White Chocolate - Enough to melt & to add to milk.
Squirty Cream.
Milk (I used Almond because it's really yummy.)
Food Colouring.
Decorations of choice - Edible glitter, sprinkles, marshmallows etc.

The melted white chocolate tastes a lot better than it looks there.
The Method:

I would definitely recommend laying out everything you need beforehand, it saves so much time, especially when you are racing against the squirty cream melting clock.

1. Melt white chocolate into a bowl and dip the rim of your mug/cup into the chocolate and then into the edible glitter.
2. Pour your milk into a saucepan and simmer gently; add the rest of the chocolate to taste. I love my hot chocolate sweet so I added quite a few squares in.
3. Add in the food colouring until you've reached your desired colour.
4. Once heated through, pour into your mugs/cups.
5. Top with squirty cream and decorations of choice.
6. Instagram (optional), drink & enjoy.

Such a quick and easy recipe to make and really delicious. It tastes exactly like normal hot chocolate and will definitely be something I'll make again.

I've loved bringing recipe and DIY posts back to this blog and hopefully I will be able to do more in the future.

What do you think of the Unicorn food trend?
Would you make this Hot Chocolate for yourself?

If you do recreate this recipe I would love to see pictures!
